The deliberate lack of a base for the product simplifies the form so that it is uberfunctional in the sense that you keep it with you so it can never become contaminated and if you do need to rest it, it dematerialises by reducing form and doing away with the unnecessary base which becomes more of a problem then a solution trying to rest a glass outdoors. Instead, it simply stabs into the ground next to wherever you are sat, its always with you allowing you to keep track of your consumption.
