Ilsa last week spend time up in Tain Scotland with Brodie niell and Nicky Burns at the Glasstorm Studio creating the first batch of Pippa and Spyke.

These were hand blown by glass artist Brodie and were finished by Ilsa and her partner Anthony Braniff.

The results from initial tests were astonishing and Ilsa now has 8 sexy new prototypes in colourless, blue, green and red in each of the two styles to exhibit at 100% Design in the Autumn.

Back in March 09 Ilsa designed a new REthinkthings seating product using her new found RhinoCAD skills and entered the design into the one good chair furniture design competition organized and judged by the sustainable furniture council.

Ilsas design reached the 20 strong semi final stage and will be exhibited in Los Angeles this Autumn. Ilsa is now seeking investment for working prototype production and intends to try to bring the product to the mass market in 2010.

In April 2009 REthinkthings took a stand at Pulse giftware show at Earls Court London. It was here that Ilsa first showed the early version prototypes of Kaspa and made contact with several retailers interested in stocking the product once in steady production.

For this show, Ilsa shared the stand with Ana Maria Pasescu Stewart and Mike Cloke, both fellow contestants on the Starck BBC documentary program on which she featured. All three exhibited innovative product solutions under the REthinkthings brand which aims to communicate examples of “better” product design.

At this show, Sworth was shortlisted for the “green” award as it reuses industrial manufacturing waste to create a striking lampshade of metallic chaos which refracts and reflects the light.

Sworth is currently being shown around the UK by Redesigndesign as part of their “lighten up” sustainable lighting touring exhibition.

Ilsa was included in the published book that REdesigndesign brought out in conjunction with this show.
